Where is your furniture manufactured?

All of our furniture is custom made to order in our factory in North America.

Do you have a showroom?

At this time, unfortunately we do not have a showroom, we solely sell online. We hope to have a showroom one day soon. Meanwhile, we would be happy to offer as much customer support as possible to help make an educated decision.

What should I know about buying custom furniture?

At Tandem Arbor, every piece we produce is hand-made to order for our customers. Being an individually, hand-crafted piece, each product can be expected to have natural variations, which is to be expected and contributes to the unique nature of our furniture.

Due to the hand-made nature of our furniture, the following variances are to be expected:

  • Due to situational considerations such as lighting, computer/mobile screens, etc., product photos may not be fully reflective of the color and pattern details of your selected upholstery option. We highly recommend requesting an upholstery swatch sample to view your upholstery selection in person for the best experience.
  • Fabric dye lots may vary. This may result in slight differences in color, texture and appearance of our fabrics and leather between swatch samples received and the final furniture piece.
  • For our leather products, we are happy to send all customers a Cut For Approval (CFA) of the exact leather to be used upon request. Please contact our us for more information on the CFA process.
  • Leather is a natural material, and as such there may be slight variations between hides. Additionally, due to the size of each hide, some pieces may require additional upholstery seams not shown on product photos. Our team of skilled upholsterers will lay out each hide and design the best seam pattern for your piece based on the yield of each hide.
  • Wood finishes may have slight variations in color and appearance due the unique and natural nature of the wood grain.
  • Size tolerances are expected: all pieces are made within a tolerance of 1" of specified dimensions. If you have a specific request regarding dimensions, please contact our support team and we will be happy to work with you to meet your specific requests.

Our standard construction is a sinuous spring seating system, with seat cushions featuring a core of high-resiliency foam wrapped in a wrapped with a down/fiber blend fill. All materials are locally sourced and eco-friendly. We can offer upgrades such as eight-way hand-tie or different cushion fills if desired!

Is the seat comfortable?

The seat is comfy, all while the suspension system helps distribute the weight equally across the frame and prevents it from sagging. Our standard seating system is a no-sag 8-gauge sinuous spring. Each piece is finished with 2.0 density high resiliency CertiPUR certified foam cushions that are wrapped with a down/fiber blend fill.

What is the composition of the furniture frames?

All of our frames are made using furniture grade engineered plywood made from kiln-dried hardwoods including maple, poplar, beech, oak, and gum; there is no pine and all plywood glue is fire retardant. All hardwood is ASHA compliant and meets all state regulations.

  • Formaldehyde

What is the weight capacity of your products?

We have not had our products tested for weight capacity. This would be a structural engineering test that a testing lab would facilitate which we have not undergone. Our products are made using high quality, locally sourced materials and we have not ever had a complaint on this issue.

Tell me more about your leather?

Our standard offerings are an Aniline leather. The leather is a European cowhide that is finished in Italy. It is a distressed, oily pull-up leather that features a natural grain that highlights the hand-crafted nature of upholstery with its aged appeal and will display natural characteristics and markings. The hides are a 0.9-1.0mm thickness. The crust has received only aniline dyes for color, then dried, softened and milled. Note, there is no protective finish added.

We work closely with our tanneries and have the ability to offer a multitude of options and colors, should our standard offerings not be the leather you are looking for.

What stains do you offer for feet?

All of our pieces come with feet stained to compliment the color and upholstery selection chosen at purchase. However, we can have the feet stained to match your personal preference as well. We currently offer four stain options: Weathered, Dark Brown, Ebony, and Natural. You can see samples of our stains here.

If you would like to customize the foot stain of your order, please contact us via live chat, email us at hello@tandemarbor.com, or call us at 800-306-4504.

What kind of support is included with the bed?

All beds come with slats that are laid between the interior rails of the bed frame to provide support for the box spring and mattress. The slats are designed to evenly distribute the weight of the mattress. Bunkie Boards and adjustable bed frame are alternative options that offer mattress support.

What is a Bunkie Board Bed?

A bunkie board is a strong upholstered platform foundation that sits inside the bed frame to support the mattress. It is less bulky and often sturdier, all while offering a more even distribution of weight when compared to a normal box spring. Bunkie boards are recommended to support the additional weight of foam, memory foam, or latex mattresses.

Is your bed compatible with adjustable bed bases and mattresses?

Yes! Adjustable beds that are available in standard industry sizes will fit into our frames. Most adjustable beds are designed to allow the head and foot on each side of the mattress to be raised and lowered without expanding in size. For your convenience, beds that are compatible with adjustable mattresses will be delivered without any other mattress supports so the adjustable base can be directly inserted.
